A recent independent research by a leading car insurance provider in UK revealed that people in London pay hefty motoring fines, about £680 in their lifetimes. The research also stated that Northeastern areas of the country are more likely to pay £352 on an average for motoring offences. People in Southeastern areas pay around £303 on an average for such offences.
A comparison made between drivers based on their genders showed that women are more likely to pay around £210 on an average as motoring fines. The same figure in case of male drivers was much more, about £344 on an average.
The head of the department of risk and underwriting at the insurance company that conducted the research said that it is very costly for the people to own a functioning car in the UK because of the rising fuel prices as well as unavoidable expenditures such as motoring fines. This makes owning and running a car in the UK all the more expensive.
The research indicates that a number of motorists who do not pay much importance to rules and regulations and keep on violating them. It is evident by a considerable number of people who use their mobile phones while driving on the roads and consider it a petty issue.
He also added that such offences add points on the driving licenses of the drivers and deemed as serious offences because they pose a great threat to the driver as well as other people on the roads.
