The estimate shows that over 900,000 drivers, who are under the age of thirty years, do not have car insurance. Two thirds of this figure is in the age group 21-29. The research has clearly shown that the typical uninsured driver will be somewhere in the age group of 17-29. The Motor insurers’ bureau has also shown concern to this research and is worried that this figure may see an increase due to the recession that is going on.

The MIB also launched a campaign to make the uninsured drivers aware of the policies and it focuses on the people who have not renewed their car insurance from the car insurance supermarket due to then fear of recession. Some of the people in this age group believe that they can flout the rules and can get away with not being insured.
The cost cutting by the people has not come as a surprise to the agencies but the police are taking it very seriously and are confiscating almost 500 vehicles each day. People who do not have car insurance will have to face dire consequences and they may even be convicted for the same.
